Moderates For Reasonable Candidates

I am a political moderate. I wasn't always, but I am now. In an increasingly partisan system, it is hard for me to find a candidate I can get behind. This coming election is no exception. With a plethora of candidates and viewpoints, I have only really decided on a couple of them. for the first time in my life, I will be voting for a Democrat! I know, right? How strange for me. No, not Obama. Tim Kaine!

I am really excited about his platform. He is more moderate than any of the candidates running for senate in VA. I came to the decision in part because of my good friend Sara S. She is working on his campaign, which is awesome. She asked Casey and me to come walk in our local Labor day parade in support of Tim Kaine. It was really fun! The group was pretty big and enthusiastic. I'm glad I had the opportunity to participate in such a great event.

We did feel a little out of place since we are not Obama people, but I think it is important to vote for candidates that you believe in no matter what their party may be. Being a moderate can be hard, but if more candidates were moderate and willing to compromise like Tim Kaine, I would be a happier voter.
